ABOUT THE COOPERATIVE:

During the first years of the 20th century, large urban centers began to get electricity. There were many towns far from the capitals that could not get electricity.

It was in 1929 when a group of entrepreneurs from Callosa decided to create a Consumers and Users Cooperative, with two objectives: to acquire the cheapest electricity and to provide electricity to areas of Callosa that lacked it. Social participations worth 25 pesetas each were subscribed, a transformer and a high voltage line were built from Elche to Callosa, and this is how the Electric Cooperative began to distribute energy to its members.

The Cooperative distributed and commercialized energy from its inception until the end of 2016. Law 24/2013, of December 26, of the Electricity Sector established the prohibition of jointly carrying out both activities and as a consequence of this Law the company DISTRIBUCIÓN ELÉCTRICA was born. DE CALLOSA DE SEGURA, S.L.U.

This company, 100% owned by the COOPERATIVE, is the one that has been carrying out the distribution activity since the end of 2016.

The COOPERATIVE is the head of the group and currently sells energy to more than 6,500 supply points of members and subscribers that are connected to the network of the group’s distributor.
