The Electric Cooperative of Castellar: almost 100 years of cooperative action

The Electric Cooperative of Castellar is one of the cooperatives with the longest history of Unión Renovables.

According to the archives, on May 2, 1916, Mr. José Alpera Roig signed a contract with the “El Volta” Limited Company for the supply of electricity for the Castellar y Oliveral neighborhood, which would be made available to him. available on July 31 of the same year.

Mr. Alpera installed the electric power distribution network from a 25 kW transformer, in the main street of the town of Castellar and another of 7.5 kW, in the house of D. José Arce Aznar of the same town, to the supply of energy to the town of Castellar and Oliveral and neighboring hamlets.

On August 2, 1923, Mr. José Alpera assigns and transfers the rights and obligations arising from the contract with the S.A. “El Volta”, and all the networks and transformers, to Mr. Marcelino Gimeno Mocholí, in the name and on behalf of two hundred twenty-five owners, for a total amount of eighteen thousand pesetas.

After a year, on August 1, 1924, as a result of the meeting promoting the constitution of the Cooperative, on August 13, 1924, the REGULATION OF THE ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE was presented for legalization, in the Civil Government of Valencia. OF CASTLE.

According to said Regulation, the object of the Company is to provide electrical fluid, either for driving force or for lighting, to its partners, economically. The electrical fluid could be produced directly on behalf of the Company or purchased from a company or individual.
